Have you ever watched someone work on a potter’s wheel, and found yourself captivated by the smooth vessel pulled up from a mound of clay? Are you curious about what it would be like to make your own wheel-thrown pottery? If you like working with the medium of clay, you may enjoy giving wheel-thrown pottery a try.  We offer classes 5 days a week at various signs.  Scroll down to check them all out!

Beginning and Intermediate Wheel Throwing Classes

Sunday Thrown and Altered Class with Megan Schefter – Fall 2018 Class

Instructor: Megan Schefter
Special Topic: Thrown and Altered
A great class for beginners and intermediates! In this class students will learn how to make larger objects from smaller, thrown items… as well as learn how to alter thrown and handbuilt pieces to give them unique shapes and forms.

New students will learn how to center and throw the necessary shapes to make larger forms.

Returning students will be able to learn new tips and tricks to throw larger pieces and alter them.

This is a 6-week course. Each sequential course will take place on the following week on the same day/time, but this class will skip over September 2nd in observance of Labor Day. Class will continue the following weeks afterwards.

  • Next class begins on Aug 26, 2018, ends on Oct 7, 2018 – skipping over Labor Day

Monday Beginning/Intermediate Wheel Throwing Class w/ Ellie Kotsianas – Summer 2018 Class

Instructor: Ellie Kotsianas
Join Ellie for a beginning session on Monday nights. This class will focus on beginners but will also cover plenty for intermediate students. Cups, Vases, Plates, Spoon rests, Bowls, etc…

This is a 6-week course.  Each sequential course will take place on the following week on the same day/time.

Tuesday Beginning Ceramic Wheel Throwing Class with Amanda Humphreys – Fall 2018 Class

Instructor: Amanda Humphreys
Amanda will instruct you how to wedge and center clay, make cups, bowls and plates as well as how to decorate and glaze your pieces. First bag of clay, pottery tool kit, 8 weeks of studio time are all included.

This is a 6-week course. Each sequential course will take place on the following week on the same day/time.

Wednesday Beginning/ Intermediate Wheel Throwing Class with Anais Lux – Fall 2018 Class

Instructor: Anais Lux
Anais will take you through the entire process of learning how to make pottery on the wheel. This includes wedging clay, centering, pulling up, making cups, bowls, vases, trimming your work, and glazing it. Your first bag of clay, pottery tool kit, and 8 weeks of studio time are all included.

This is a 6-week course. Each sequential course will take place on the following week on the same day/time.
