Six-Week Classes

Our six-week classes are designed to instruct students while inspiring and encouraging individual creativity. Most classes have 8 to 13 students and the environment is fairly informal, allowing the instructor to address the individual student’s needs and goals during each class session.

All experience levels are welcome. Class sessions are generally six-week sessions meeting for a three-hour class each week. Class/materials fee includes open studio time for the duration of the class session (Tuesday- Friday 11am- 6pm (open until 9pm on Thursdays), and Saturdays 9am-5pm). Additional supplies are available in our store. Special interest classes may vary in length, cost, and materials included.

Class sizes are limited, and class registration is on a first-come-first-serve basis. Registration may be completed online through our website at https://classes.mightymud.com

All 6-week classes are open to ages 16 and up. All minors must have an adult present at all times.

Picking Up Completed Work

For picking up your work from one night or private classes, please come see us in the 126 Jennings Ave building (Yellow Exterior). It is the responsibility of the person taking the class to provide contact information for our instructors to reach them when their work is completed. If you do not provide useful contact information we will hold the work for up to 6 months after the first attempt to contact you. If you do not hear from us, please call at (865)-595-1900 and let us know if you have not been contacted. If you have extenuating circumstances surrounding the time frame you can pick up your work please let us know and we will attempt to accommodate your request.

Why was my class/workshop cancelled?

Weather has unfortunately been a factor, and for safety and comfort, Raku has been cancelled on occasion. While unlisted, each of our instructors provide us with a minimum number of students for class or workshop enrollment. If a class or workshop is cancelled, the student will be given the option of transferring credit to another workshop or a full refund.

Refunds

Refunds: All refund requests for classes and events must be submitted via email to Classes@mightymud.com at least one week prior to the event or class in question.

Is the studio available for use by non-students?

Open Studio at Mighty Mud is for those with previous clay experience, competent in completing desired tasks on their own and does not include any instruction. Anyone interested in attending open studio hours must first complete a six-week class. This ensures that attendees know how to properly use all studio equipment and follow studio best practices.

Hourly Open Studio Rental Hours are during regular business hours Tuesday – Friday 11am to 6pm, and Saturdays 9am to 5pm, unless there is another class or workshop in session. These hours are subject to change without notice. Space is available on a first come basis and wheels cannot be reserved.

The cost of Hourly Open Studio Rental is $10/hour per person with a minimum of one hour, and $5 for each subsequent hour. Hourly Open Studio Rental includes use of wheels and glazes, however additional kiln firing fees apply.
