Have you ever watched someone work on a potter’s wheel, and found yourself captivated by the smooth vessel pulled up from a mound of clay? Are you curious about what it would be like to make your own wheel-thrown pottery? Beginning and Intermediate Wheel Throwing Classes

Sunday Wheel Throwing Class with Megan Schefter

Instructor: Megan Schefter
For beginners, Megan will instruct centering, cups, bowls, plates, firing and glazing. For Intermediate students she will work to hone and improve your previous skills, work on surface techniques and learn more technical skills ie. Thrown and altered, incorporating hand-built and thrown forms, and many other techniques.

This is a 6-week course. Each sequential course will take place on the following week on the same day/time.

Sunday Hand Building Class with Megan Schefter

“Handbuilding back to basics”
A review and new perspective for returning students and in depth introduction to new students of all things hand built (no wheel)
Includes Slab roller with soft and firm slab building, extruder and coil and all things built with that process. Combining techniques, pinch, coil, slab, etc… Reductive Carving, slump and hump molds, if it’s not done on the wheel you’ll learn it in this class.

Monday Beginning/Intermediate Wheel Throwing Class w/ Ellie Kotsianas

Join Ellie on Monday nights at 6pm. The beginners will cover all the basics of wheel throwing (throwing, trimming, glazing, handles.) The intermediate students will further their knowledge with larger forms, attaching two forms together, lidded jars, throwing sets of things. Feel free two bring food and beverages.

Tuesday Beginning Hand Building Class with Amanda Humphreys

Instructor: Amanda Humphreys
Join Amanda Tuesday nights for a class on hand building techniques and slab construction. Learn how to make functional items such as mugs, plates & platters, salt & pepper sets, butter dishes and flower bricks. Surface design techniques and glazing basics will be discussed as well. First bag of clay, glazes, firings and 8 weeks of studio time are all included with the class.

Anais will take you through the entire process of learning how to make pottery on the wheel. This includes wedging clay, centering, pulling up, making cups, bowls, vases, trimming your work, and glazing it. Your first bag of clay, pottery tool kit, and 8 weeks of studio time are all included.

Introduction to Felting with Christal Yost

Instructor: Christal Yost
In this 6 week course we will learn wet felting techniques such as fiber layout, fulling and finishing using hand dyed wool. Students will leave with a completed project each week that will include new skills that build on the previous weeks lessons. Each weeks class descriptions are as follows: 1. Flower Power – Basics of felt; 2. Whimsical Creatures – Cording and Attachments; 3. Lay it On! Making a larger project using rolling and scrolling; 4. Cover it up! – using partial resist to make a notebook or iPad cover; 5. Festival Fluff! – Use full resist to create a festival belt bag; 6. Divided by sheep – Use your new skills to create a divided tote bag that makes a great purse, camera bag or whatever you choose.

Perfectly Imperfect with Wendie Love – Winter 2020

Perfectly Imperfect: Exploring the beauty of wonky forms and Wabi Sabi surface

In this class students will create forms on the wheel and activate surfaces by a variety of techniques. Students will learn about throwing, altering, darting, slip trailing Mishima/inlay, mocha diffusion, under glaze layering, masking, and other alternative finishes.
